UVC PROPERTIES 

UVC Radiation at 253.7 nm is GERMICIDALS 

Germicidal means "germs or microorganisms destruction"  
Virus - Yeasts - Bacteria - Protozoon - Worms - Seaweeds - Moulds  
185 nm UVC Radiation is DEODORANTS
They have the property to decompose the air and generating OZONE (O3). The ozone is a very oxidizing gas and this effect, combined with UVC radiation in 254 nm allows using it in deodorizing.
The ultraviolet radiation UVC (full of energy) produces molecular photo-chemical reactions.
Within reaction with microorganisms, essentially by absorption of UV photons between 250 and 270 nanometers, the DNA or ARN molecular dissociation damages the membrane of cells and nucleus.
It causes local mutations and prevents microorganisms’ reproduction, so they are inactivated and finally killed. That is why they are used in the processes of decontamination as germs destruction, in particular those who are called pathogenic.
Disinfection - Sterilization 
Generally, the term disinfection is used when the remaining level of microorganisms is lower than that being able to activate a disease. The term sterilization is used when alive microorganisms are killed
Lamps effectiveness
The germicidal effectiveness of UV–radiation is in the 180–320 nm region with an optimum at 265 nm. Approximately 95% of the energy radiated by a low–pressure mercury arc is at the 253.7 nm line, so this source is the most effective one for germicidal applications. The germicidal effectiveness of a broadband source can be calculated.

Low-pressure, mercury-arc germicidal lamps are specially designed to produce the highest amounts of UV radiation - typically about 90% of the total rated energy is at 253.7nm. This radiation is very close to the peak of the germicidal effectiveness curve of 265nm, the most lethal wavelength to microorganisms;

APPLICATIONS

For several years, the properties of UVC radiation decontamination UVC find their applications in various fields and did not stop evolving.
Our germicidal lamps are used extensively in air and water purification applications such as in the food and beverage industry, medical applications, HVAC systems (Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning), pharmaceutical and semiconductor sterilization applications. In addition, they are used in drinking water, waste water and ground water remediation.

Surface treatment
Decontamination of capsules, caps and other packaging is ERIES®. specificity. This is a very wide range of applications because it includes the decontamination of food containers (pots and caps / bottle’s necks / diverse bags/ supports or tools).  
In this case, lamps are protected by a sleeve, in transparent material for UVC. This technique allows meeting the requirements of quality chains such as food, pharmaceutical production, beauty care, etc. This sleeve avoids any dispersal of quartz in case of incident. This process of lamp casing was patented by the company VERBOOM in 1989.  

Liquids treatment
The water decontamination remains the main field of application of this process (water of process, rinsing, releases, swimming pools but also distribution of water for human consumption etc ...)

Air Treatment
Handling air for the laboratory hoods decontamination or premises in absence of staff. UVC Lamp greatly increases the air treatment effect in the process of photo catalyses.
